TM Desert Eagle Airsoft Pistol Review

Here’s my review of Tokyo Marui’s Desert Eagle Hard Kick gas blow back airsoft pistol.

The presentation of packaging is good. The box is smooth and smells good. Upon opening, you will see the manuals, the gun, magazine and BBs. The BBs packaged are a bit smaller than the ICS BBs I did purchase. The only complain I have is regarding the manual. Tokyo Marui did not even bother to have an English version of their manual. I never owned a pistol before and are not familiar with the internals. I wish Marui would print their manuals having an English translation for new pistol owners to understand their pistols work.

Gun Externals

TM Desert Eagle Airsoft

The Desert Eagle(DE) has a flat black finishing. It’s plastic body is deceptive unless you have felt the texture of the body. The magazine is made up of metal and is quite heavy. The grip has a rubber-like feeling with the logo of IMI in it. The visible metal parts of the DE includes trigger, the hammer, the slide release lever, and the take down lever.

The bulk of the weight of the DE is concentrated at the slide and magazine. The DE approximately weighs a decent 1200g. So far I have no problem about is weight since I am used to carrying heavy loads.

On the left side of the slide, it says, “DESERT EAGLE .50AE PISTOL ISRAEL MILITARY INDUSTRIES LTD.(I.M.I),” while on the right side of the slide, it says, “MAGNUM RESEARCH INC. MINNEAPOLIS MINN. MADE IN JAPAN.” On the right side of the frame above the grip, there’s also smaller text that says, “94731 TOKYO MARUI. CO. LTD.” and a small ASGK logo below the hammer.

The HOP of the DE is conveniently located on top of the barrel. This is the gun I have seen so far with the most accessible hop with easy adjustment guide. The safety lever is ambidextrous and can be accessible by the thumb despite its bulky gip. The mag release can be pressed by the thumb after a few repositioning of your grip. I suppose this is designed in order for the mag release not to be accidentally pressed during combat. The magazine easily slides down upon pressing the mag release buttom.

Magazine capacity is 25+1 and is doulbe stacked. It has also inscription saying TOKYO MARUI Co.Ltd. MADE IN JAPAN”.

The Performance

Most of the BBs I used are 0.20g and of the ICS brand. I used 134a gas for the magazine. After firing a few rounds, I noticed the recoil is quite stronger than most of the pistols I have noticed. This confirms its “Hard Kick” description. You would have to re-aim after each firing or you just might miss your target. The sound after each fire is crisp and produces a louder sound.

After firing +/- 400 rounds, I was delighted that there were no misfeed nor did I experience any jams on the barrel after firing 26 round rapidly. No part of the gun chipped off or was removed. I inspected the slide for any cracks or damage but found none.

The grouping of the BBs is great after aiming each shot. Not one of the them were an inch away from each other.

Conclusion

TM Desert Eagle Airsoft Pistol

The Tokyo Maui Desert Eagle .50AE Hard Kick GBB is a great gun for me. It did surpass my expectations. I did not encounter any problem during firing. It’s externals are accurately done. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the Tokyo Marui Desert Eagle to anyone. The only drawback I can only see is its size and weight. But if size and weight does not matter and you are into peformance, then the Tokyo Marui Desert Eagle is the pistol for you.No worries about the paint too. The chrome finish is not just like painting over the whole slide. Unfortunately my TM DE chrome had a scratch, I was expecting that the inner part or expecting the “black” inner layer would show…it did not. the chrome finish seems to be the whole slide.

If you have small hands, this pistol is not for you. The pistol grip is big. Re-aiming is kinda tricky, this is because the recoil is quite extensive, you need to re-aim at your opponent. Tt really has a strong kick. Another downside, you can easily be spotted in a dark room as light easily reflects on this gbb. I had my share of times where my position was compromised because my pistol reflected.

Besides that, this is quite a strong, indimidating and performance wise very good for a GBB.
