Airsoft guns is a new hobby of mine but before this, it was basketball. It was rekindled while browsing through a sports facility shopping site looking for something to spruce up our empty backyard. This got me all nostalgic and brought me back to the days when I used to play basketball during Physical Education classes in my high school where an inground basketball system has been installed. My father had always encouraged me to continue with this sport, primarily because I had the built and height of a basketball player. I remember frequenting the sports shops near the city proper after school just to take a peek into the windows that held a glorious display of basketball gear. It took time and effort to look for the perfect basketball equipment and I would constantly beg to my father to buy me a pair of shoes worn by my favorite player, a jersey or even just a basketball net and a basketball so I can have my very own court in my backyard. To no avail, my father would just always tell me to make do with what I have, which is to play basketball at the school’s inground basketball system.

Then one day, I went home and saw my father unloading basketball equipment from his truck. He was building me a basketball court right in our backyard! He had taken note of the basketball court dimensions and he was painting the backyard with lines on the cement floor, to resemble a real court. It was a day I won’t forget because then and there, my love for the sport grew, I learned to respect and revere the game that is basketball. Years have passed and times have changed, I no longer look through glass windows to drool at my favorite basketball gear. I now enjoy browsing through sports facility shopping sites to look at what my fellow basketball lovers have in store for me. It has become more than a shopping experience because it served as a bond for everyone who loves basketball and is eager to share its magic.

The M4A1 by JG feels like, weighs like and sounds and shoots even more better than Marui.

Even the bolt lever opens the ejection port cover and exposes the hop-up system that now works with precision, as compared with other makes or brands. The similarity in construction will never guarantee us a similarity in performance, sometimes mere difference in millimeter can largely affect performance or accuracy in the hop-up system. So as soon as you get you JG M4A1, check right away inside the hop-up system for faults or tweaks.

M4A1 Assault Rifle Pictures

There is a closer look at the hop-up adjust dial… any difference with TM? sometimes I feel like I am carrying a Marui at the gamesite, and that goes to most JG M4A1 I see

The bolt assist button in the real steel M4 is used to push in an almost jammed bullet that needs a little pushing into the barrel. JG’s version is accurately replicated but does not work entirely. I am imagining an M4 AEG with an all working features, for example, the bolt assist unlocks the anti reverse latch during a hanged cycle when your battery unexpectedly drops voltage.. hmmm…. what else? Imagine!!

There is the bolt assist button, yes it works with a push of a finger but don’t expect an action as a result it’s just a replica.

The front sight is sooo exact and an adjustment tool is also included to adjust the height of the front reticle tip, is that what its called? The outer barrel is made of metal, yes METAL or BAKAL and I noticed some signs of corrosion inside of the outer barrel. Unlike Marui, JG’s version makes for a heavier build and feel that adds realism.. Marui’s outer barrel finish though has an advantage with it’s finish, it does look more like a real metal as compared to JG’s version which is painted flat black.

JG’s M4A1 has its flash hider designed to be removable by a negative thread pattern and held tight by a 1.5mm set-screw. Readily available aftermarket flash hiders and silencers will fit with no trouble at all. The handguard as shown, has a better finish if I compare it with Marui’s. Flatter in finish and a bit gritty, this may seem to add to better grip and handling, I just hope it doesn’t become glossy in time like my Marui before.

The Tactical LE retractable stock for me is yet to be the second best design after the folding stock design of other real steel guns. According to the manual, the LE Stock has a 6-point position for a more desirable adjustment and feel.

There is the extended stock at the 6th position. JG’s stock has a firm grip on the tube and does not easily slide off when you press the lock, I like this better than Marui’s smooth operation.

The detachable carry handle is an Award Winning design if I was to give this company a trophy . Sturdy and light, this carry handle can also accomodate the MilSpec top rail mount by a twist of a nut and install the most common red dot or reflex sights available in the market. This is so Marui!

When detached, the “flat top” as everyone calls it, reveals the revolutionary MilSpec rail that accomodates and installs most accessories as per operator requirement. The most frequent equipment we see are the EoTech, Aimpoint and the ACOG. Held by a single screw in the front portion and a clip-slot in the rear end portion, be careful not to apply too much force as you may break the upper receiver that holds the nut the counters the screw.

JG M4A1 Chronograph Testing

Move over Tokyo Marui! JG’s out of the box M4A1 shoots 90fps more!!

Yes it’s true! Curious about what everyone claimed who has purchased the aeg ahead of me, I borrowed a team mate’s Chronograph and I was overwhelmed, exhilirated, blown out of my seat and smiles up to my ears when I got the results of my chrono testings and here they are.

Yes! a whopping 375fps at best!! I chronoed 10 shots and they all varied between 373 to 375fps and now I am upset! Our cqb playsite is limited to 350fps… now I have to downgrade the spring.. lol!

The JG M4A1 Type-2 cylinder and it has a grayish cylinder. I am assuming that the M4A1’s cylinder is coated or treated hmmm….

Here are the innards. Plastic 6mm bushings, metal gears which I am assuming will take on an M120 or PDI190 easily. Piston body construction looks sturdy and looks like it can crank a PDI190 but a PDI170 is recommended. Tappet plate looks funny because of the color, but hey they are very strong!

The piston and piston body is held tight by a countersunk M2 screw and an aluminum counter-nut that holds the spring in place, very much alike with most of Marui’s versions.

The gears as you can see are made of metal.. I still wonder how strong they are. At the time this photo was taken, I was preparing to install a set of metal bushings, teflon coated type-2 cylinder, ported aluminum piston head with a little oversized o-ring, an air sealed nozzle and a Systema M120. I also replaced the hop-up rubber from Guarder just to be sure. No not the barel yet.

Generally, I can say that the plastic bushings that came originally will last you thru the years if you keep the stock spring.. Nevertheless replace the bushings first to a metal set when upgrading to a stronger spring.

Like I previously mentioned, this is my friend’s gearbox.. lol!

Here’s my review of Tokyo Marui’s Desert Eagle Hard Kick gas blow back airsoft pistol.

The presentation of packaging is good. The box is smooth and smells good. Upon opening, you will see the manuals, the gun, magazine and BBs. The BBs packaged are a bit smaller than the ICS BBs I did purchase. The only complain I have is regarding the manual. Tokyo Marui did not even bother to have an English version of their manual. I never owned a pistol before and are not familiar with the internals. I wish Marui would print their manuals having an English translation for new pistol owners to understand their pistols work.

Gun Externals

The Desert Eagle(DE) has a flat black finishing. It’s plastic body is deceptive unless you have felt the texture of the body. The magazine is made up of metal and is quite heavy. The grip has a rubber-like feeling with the logo of IMI in it. The visible metal parts of the DE includes trigger, the hammer, the slide release lever, and the take down lever.

The bulk of the weight of the DE is concentrated at the slide and magazine. The DE approximately weighs a decent 1200g. So far I have no problem about is weight since I am used to carrying heavy loads.

On the left side of the slide, it says, “DESERT EAGLE .50AE PISTOL ISRAEL MILITARY INDUSTRIES LTD.(I.M.I),” while on the right side of the slide, it says, “MAGNUM RESEARCH INC. MINNEAPOLIS MINN. MADE IN JAPAN.” On the right side of the frame above the grip, there’s also smaller text that says, “94731 TOKYO MARUI. CO. LTD.” and a small ASGK logo below the hammer.

The HOP of the DE is conveniently located on top of the barrel. This is the gun I have seen so far with the most accessible hop with easy adjustment guide. The safety lever is ambidextrous and can be accessible by the thumb despite its bulky gip. The mag release can be pressed by the thumb after a few repositioning of your grip. I suppose this is designed in order for the mag release not to be accidentally pressed during combat. The magazine easily slides down upon pressing the mag release buttom.

Magazine capacity is 25+1 and is doulbe stacked. It has also inscription saying TOKYO MARUI Co.Ltd. MADE IN JAPAN”.

The Performance

Most of the BBs I used are 0.20g and of the ICS brand. I used 134a gas for the magazine. After firing a few rounds, I noticed the recoil is quite stronger than most of the pistols I have noticed. This confirms its “Hard Kick” description. You would have to re-aim after each firing or you just might miss your target. The sound after each fire is crisp and produces a louder sound.

After firing +/- 400 rounds, I was delighted that there were no misfeed nor did I experience any jams on the barrel after firing 26 round rapidly. No part of the gun chipped off or was removed. I inspected the slide for any cracks or damage but found none.

The grouping of the BBs is great after aiming each shot. Not one of the them were an inch away from each other.

Conclusion

The Tokyo Maui Desert Eagle .50AE Hard Kick GBB is a great gun for me. It did surpass my expectations. I did not encounter any problem during firing. It’s externals are accurately done. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the Tokyo Marui Desert Eagle to anyone. The only drawback I can only see is its size and weight. But if size and weight does not matter and you are into peformance, then the Tokyo Marui Desert Eagle is the pistol for you.No worries about the paint too. The chrome finish is not just like painting over the whole slide. Unfortunately my TM DE chrome had a scratch, I was expecting that the inner part or expecting the “black” inner layer would show…it did not. the chrome finish seems to be the whole slide.

If you have small hands, this pistol is not for you. The pistol grip is big. Re-aiming is kinda tricky, this is because the recoil is quite extensive, you need to re-aim at your opponent. Tt really has a strong kick. Another downside, you can easily be spotted in a dark room as light easily reflects on this gbb. I had my share of times where my position was compromised because my pistol reflected.

Besides that, this is quite a strong, indimidating and performance wise very good for a GBB.

Very recently, I bumped into an old colleague who’s also an airsoft enthusiast. Apparently, he just bought the AU-2G Sniping Gun from the prestigious Jing Gong Automatic Eletric Gun Series but saw another model that he now wants desperately. I literally salivated at the price he was selling the AU-2G.

I realized though, it’s not going to be pay day anytime soon!

I checked with friends on any short-term loans I could avail of. Out of all the options I received, it was Cash Advance 1500, an online payday loans cash advance site, that caught my attention. I particularly liked the fact that lending money was done in utmost confidentiality and even in the comfort of my own home.

If you are pressed for money and do not want all the troubles of lending such as slow loan processing, embarrassment from falling in long lines at a store, being caught totally by surprise by hidden policies and bonds or even the confusion that arise with handwritten forms, online Cash Advance Payday Loans is the answer.

I went to the shop and…
The salesclerk handed me a beautiful red box… And I know my AK is in there. I opened the box and BAM!!! AKS-74U. I love this gun!! Bin Laden loves it too!! The gun is NOT TOO SHINY; as what I have read in the forums says otherwise.
I put the gun in the chrono and… I got 390 - 393 FPS. Not bad? No. IT’S GREAT!!!

Externals
This is a really beautiful AK. The weight is just right, the receivers seem rock solid, the wood handguard is nice, and the folding stock is really solid as well. One of the best thing that I loved about this gun is the quality of the externals. It’s awesome! Zero wobbles whatsoever, rock solid construction, and still maintains a reasonable weight.

Internals
I didn’t open the GB yet, I still have to buy those 7mm metal bushings before I’ll open it. The first thing I saw on the GB are the 7mm nylon bushings, and an ALUMINUM PISTON HEAD.

I had a small problem with the HOP chamber, whenever I fire BBS are going everywhere!! It’s worse than a shotgun! I replaced the HOP rubber, and the problem wouldn’t go away. I then realized that the HOP Chamber is too tight for the hop rubber, so I just sand-papered the inner part of the chamber and put it all together again; it worked like a charm. Other than the HOP Chamber problem, everything else is fine.

Symptoms of the hop chamber problem:
1.) Inconsistent FPS
2.) The sound is too loud when you fire (air leaks)
3.) Very very weak FPS combined with straying bbs.

Accuracy:
THIS IS A VERY VERY ACURATE GUN with respect to the barrel length. I can hit the center of a power post in over 50 meters, time after time. I am confident that I could still hit it in about 70 meters. I was amazed because it’s even more accurate than my old JG Spetz with a 6.03 x 270 tight barrel. It’s more accurate than my old JG G36c as well.

Magazine compatibility
I have a cyma slr mag and it works perfectly in my aksu. I just shaved a milimeter or two on the tab where the mag locks on with the mag catch.

Conclusion:
This gun is well worth my money. It’s well worth your money as well!!! This is my 5th gun since I started playing airsoft last february, and I could say that this is a really really beautiful gun. The externals are made from STAMPED STEEL, it’s obviously more durable than cast alloy. I was planning to get the cyma last week, but when I saw the dboys aksu on the market I quickly grabbed one.

Chrono: 390 - 393 fps
Accuracy: Very accurate
Feeding: Good
Magazine: Good

Finally my order arrived last week. A brand new spankin TM Detonics 45 Combat Master. Packaging was almost similar with the TM M1911A1. Magazine has a chrome finish however does not depict the real steel counterpart which is made of matte stainless finish. The grip panels are similar of the TM M1911A1 variant and the rear grip is parkerized.

Seams are almost non-existent same as the TM 1911A1 and I would assume for the TM 1911A1 owners, they would appreciate the finish of this gas blow back(GBB). Metal parts are the lower receiver, hammer, trigger, mag release, slide lock.

One thing you will notice instantly is the location of its rear sights is set oddly forward, reducing the sight radius to a bare 4 inches. However the the combat master was not really intended as a target pistol (real steel) so I guess being a replica, it is but logical to follow the original design.

The markings on the slide is just the plain Detonics .45 on the left and the typical “ASGK” “Tokyo Marui, Made in Japan”. Not much really.

Picking this GBB is quite surprising as it is a tad heavier than my TM 5.1 Hi-capa without the magazine. Can’t recall the exact weight of the Detonics but it really has a very nice balance.

Internals

The TM Detonics utilizes a piston cup instead of the typical rubber o-ring. This according to TM increases the “blowback” effect of this dimunitive GBB (which I proven otherwise, similar only to a TM G26 Advance which uses also a piston cup). Not sure why this was advertise but probably it was just an assumption.

The rest is pretty much similar to the TM M1911A1, hop adjustment is also located inside the slide near the recoil spring. Slide take down of this GBB is similar to any 1911 variant.

PerformanceLoaded my two mags with bb’s (18 bb’s/mag) and gas (hfc 134a). Target is laid outdoors having the following conditions (guesstimate) slight breeze, around 25 - 28 degrees. Adjusted the hop a bit because I was using .25 bb’s (ran out of .2 )

Started shooting from a distance of 20 feet (see target paper on the left). First 4 shots yielded a grouping of less than an inch apart which pretty good. The hole on the outermost area of the target was a wayward shot (was eager to do a double tap hehehe)

Moved back a bit around 25-30 feet, the result is the paper on the right. Significant difference in the groupings, about an inch to an inchd and a half apart with some obvious (out target results). Not quite bad considering the length of its barrel which is around 3.2″.

Maximum effective range I reckon is around 40-50 feet, really depending on the wind conditions. Though if you get use to the sights and grip, potentially results would be much better.

Also tested shooting around 2 magfulls off bb’s (around 38 bb’s) using only 1 charge of HFC134a gas. Seems quite adequate for a small mag capacity.

Overall, I would recommend this pistol for those 1911 variant lovers and collectors. It can also serve as a good backup weapon in a pistol fight. Backup weapon on the field, well that depends on how confidend and comfortable you are, for me it does not present any issues.

Things you should know about China LPEGs(Low Powered Electric Guns):

CYMA - Earlier models include the CM027 MP5J and CM028S AK47. Their release for 2006 includes the CM031 which is externally a CA SLR-105 clone but internally similar to its version of the AK47 with a different hop up chamber and inner barrel. They also recently released a TM clone G18c AEP, however their products lack the quality and precision of higher end brands. They also manufacture LPEGs, which are quite popular among beginners.

JIEKE/WELL - The Chinese company that revolutionized the MPEG(Middle Powered Electric Gun) market with the release of their R5 MP5 and R6 M4A1 in mid 2005. Its gearbox and motor proved to be surprisingly durable although both guns suffer from air compression problems. They later released the R7 or M4A1 with full stock and R8 G3SAS which surprised many with its robustness and accuracy. WELL is the first company to release the TM clone of MP7 or R-4.

Double Eagle (DE) - The company that revolutionized LPEGs with its famous M83. Double Eagle has been proven to make exact copies of Tokyo Marui’s weapons with small upgrades, which results in greater durability and utility. Their version of the AK47 and Spetsnaz were met with lukewarm enthusiasm as most other Chinese companies, many unknown, were able to come up with better performing aegs. Their M50 springer rifle was quite popular and easily “upgradeable” to 400fps by simply wrapping the inner barrel and hop up chamber area with teflon tape to seal air leaks. In early 2007, Double Eagle released a version of M4 S-System (the M88) and G&G-based UMP (the M89).

Both Elephant (BE) - Not a very good company, weak guns don’t manage in hard use and break easily. Manufactures copies of the MP7, G3SG1, G36K, and the SL8 sniper rifle. Most of their AEGs are offered with either a plastic or metal gearbox, the latter being more reliable. However, even the metal gearbox versions are inferior in quality to similar models produced by Jin Gong (JG). They are often light weight and lack the same quality of finish and trademarks.

Jin Gong (JG, also known as Golden Bow) - JG’s first normal-power AEG release was the first series of M5 - MP5 replicas (MP5A4, MP5A5, MP5-SD5, MP5SD6) based on plastic bodies of their earlier LPEGs, fitted with a modified V2 gearbox and non-standard hop up system. Those replicas, prone to breaking and having poor performance, were soon discontinued. The next series of JG AEGs, the AK47 series – built around a copy of Tokyo Marui V3 gearbox and AK47 hop up system – proved more successful. Aside from standard AK47 and AK47S, the series included a copy of TM Beta Spetsnaz AK, a folding stock variation of the Beta Spetsnaz and a copy of Guarder “AK-to-SVD” kit (able to achieve velocity in 380-400 fps range after replacing poor quality cylinder and barrel).
In late 2006, Jin Gong introduced its M16 line (consisting of M4A1, M16A2, M16A4, M4 S-System), the second, revised series of MP5s, Steyr AUG A2 and a G36C, all capable of BB velocity of 350 fps and more. Jin Gong are often referred to as “Tokyo Marui of Chinese AEGs” due to high quality of their products. Their latest release of M4s: M16A4 (Referred as SPR), M4 S-System, CQB and SR-16 have achieved high velocities, confirmed to be about 400 fps with 0.2g BB(1.49J) out of the box.

A&K - Its M4 S-System with metal RIS (rail interface) has become a big winner in a market saturated with M4A1s. The S-System was followed by other rifles from the M16 family: M16A4, M4, M933 and M4 CQB and a M249 clone was announced to for release in July 2007.
Kart/New Star - this company, commonly linked to A&K, has débuted with releasing a M14 copy soon after the Tokyo Marui model appeared. Other models include M1A SOCOM rifle, M40 and Steyr AUG (although the last one was discontinued due to poor build).

AGM - a latecomer that surprised the market with its surprising accurate and powerful springer rifle, the MP001 aka VSR (since it is a visual replica of the TM VSR10). While its MP004/s AK 47 version did not gain popularity mainly due to the headstart gained by CYMA and the AGM offering nothing new, its MP007 (MP40) was an instant hit as an alternative to expensive and fault-prone TOP MP40 and MP008 (M14) surprised the market with its use of the version 3 spring guide and stock gears.

BOYI/DBOYS‘ - Known for their M4s. The M4 CASV is one of their greatest hits

ARMY - Little known manufacturer only known for product is a full stock AEG version of the AK-47 and an L85 AEG.

JLS - producer of the airsoft SCAR and two full metal HK33 variants and a FN F2000.
Note: There have been inaccurate claims that CYMA, Double Eagle, and/or WELL are the same company. They are in fact separate companies although closely related, possibly with family connections between some co-owners. What is sure is that they have close business ties and sometimes coordinate their product development efforts. Also important to note is the prolific pirating of Chinese products within China. Many smaller factories duplicate the larger factory’s product in exact detail, copying even the factory marks (WELL for example). Consumers and retailers must be aware that purchasing factory-direct (non-branded) product does not mean that the product is legitimately from that factory.

Hi, to my readers. I’m planning to buy a gbb pistol. Specifically I’m eying a TM Desert Eagle and HFC M190 w/ compensator. I want a pistol that is powerful, accurate and reliable. It would be a big plus if it can take green gas, has a metal slide and realistic trademarks.

I want the TM desert eagle for its looks, but I’ve read that it’s not that accurate and cannot take green gas for a long time. And, the HFC M190 w/ compensator for its looks, full metal and green gas ready. But the trademarks are crap. Let me know what you think about this two. Or, you can suggest other gbb’s you think is better. Thanks, guys!
