Baby Shampoo Wash to prevent fogging of goggles

Take your Shampoo, lather up and apply to the inside lenses of your goggles. Rinse, then apply again, this time thinly. DO NOT RINSE, but wipe with a clean rag. Some of the shampoo (a thin film) must remain on the lens for this to work. Other versions of this technique go straight into the wiping of the lenses with a cloth that has been dabbed with a little water and shampoo. However, I find the wash method has a more even effect on the lenses (but that is just me). It will help prevent fogging of goggles for up to four or five hours, depending on the atmospheric conditions, how much you work up a sweat, etc.It is an off-shoot of a technique used by SCUBA divers to prevent fogging of their diving goggles. In the original technique I heard, they used toothpaste. However, some toothpaste have that minty flavoring that sort of stings the eyes when freshly applied. Hence, the switch to shampoo. Hope this helps! :-)

Airsoft Newbie Common Mistakes

Common Newbie Mistakes (Part 1):

Gun Safety

This is something even some veterans are guilty of, and I cannot emphasize it enough: please respect your airsoft gun like it is a real gun.

Most newbies consider their guns toys. They point their airsoft guns around like it was nothing–they even point their AEGs at themselves or each other. However, with the authenticity of airsoft guns (particularly high-end guns), it is sometimes impossible to tell the difference between the real steel deal and the airsoft “toy” gun.

Example: I have a friend who was showing off his baby Armalite one time, and “parked” his Classic Army M4 next to it. I could not immediately tell which one was the real thing. Even when I picked both up, I could not tell what has the real thing. My friend said that the heavier one was the real thing, and I countered, yeah but the AEG still has no batteries. We loaded the AEG with a battery and put full magazines in each. Both of us could not tell on first touch (pick up) which was real and which wasn’t. And I consider myself a veteran player, what more a newbie? Read the rest of this entry »

Rules for Going to an Airsoft Game. Err… Gunfight. by Clint Smith

My friend picked this up, who in turn picked it up from someone else. It was written by Clint Smith - Firearms Instructor and owner of Thunder Ranch, although another link cites a different source. Although its application is for real steel (I am not sure, particularly with the item 20–some real steel shooters may want to comment), my friend sent them to me with the intention of using the rules for role-playing-games (RPG) such as Twilight: 2000, GURPS, Traveller and what other genre there are.

It’s application to airsoft is not exactly one-to-one, as it advocates “cheating”. But, in a life-or-death situation, all is fair in love and war. That is not the case in airsoft.

In the final analysis, it is funny to read (such as items 12.1 and 12.2, 20, 21 and 22) if you are into this kind of humor. Read the rest of this entry »

Classic Army Scar-L Airsoft Rifle Review

My unit came with the standard 300 rounder hi-cap magazine which comes in tan color like the CNC machined 1 piece upper metal receiver. It also sports front and rear metal flip up sights, ambi front and rear sling attachments, fire selector and charging handle (screw type which you can place either on the right or left hand side) and mag catch/release button. A retractable 3 position folding stock which comes with an adjustable cheek pad.

NOTE Sorry for the grainy picture, only used a camera phone to take this image.

Battery compartment is also located in the buttstock but can only contain small size battery configuration like an intellect 8.4v 1100mah or in my case a FireFox Li-poly 11.1v 1600mah.

However, when I decided to have an SP130 spring installed. Noticed that the fps rating was not as expected. It only clocked 400-410fps. There seem to be no leaks whatsoever as even uncle Jim of AW suggested. This is still being investigated on to the cause of this problem.

Noticed though the rubber o-ring of the cylinder head exhibited significant wear even after only firing less then 1 hi-cap. Somewhat akin to the fake systema cylinder heads that propagated in the market. Read the rest of this entry »
